    I am very new to video production. Currently I set up large boxing/UFC events with a lot of moving heads. The last event we got a few projectors and used the computer hdmi out and fed the projectors. It worked great. The question I have is can I use the output from this video switcher to a HDMI splitter and feed multiple projectors ? Or is something else needed? If so how or what is needed...Thanks

    • @TubeShooterMag

      Yes it's a standard HDMI video out that you can feed to anything.

      There is no colour correction on the channels, you are correct. It "just" switches the inputs and offers an encoding & streaming facility. See my prior video for the full functionality.

    This could be one of the strangest video I've seen. You seem to highlight problems that you clearly found solutions to. Yes the phone on its own is limiting for any serious videographer so a rigging is necessary, but this rig is still very small considering what you get in terms of results. So I just don't get where the real problem is. And if the issue is how to rig your setup more effectively, then the cage manufacturers are the ons to build a cage that would accommodate a small hub, ssd, and power bank. Not a big problem at all. iPhone is still a pocketable powerhouse of a gear to take around. all the other accessories can be packed in a separate little carry on. This video was needless.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag Місяць тому

      This is one of the strangest comments I've ever read. I clearly explain what the issues are in the video; how clumsy even a small rig is and how the components don't necessarily work well together. And yes of course the cage manufacturers need to build a better iphone rig. Or anyone else who can integrate the items better, quite frankly. This comment was needless.

I was about to buy this, but after going through your explanation and the demonstration, I thought to rethink buying it instead of the Atem Mini Pro. The unit needs to be operated in spec without the fan on. What happens when the fan invariably fails? E-waste, or will it work OK like the original version? Considering the original must/should have passed QC without active cooling, I can't imagine the SDI addition has pushed the heat past something acceptable?

    The real killer to both ATEM and GoStream is anything from YoloLiv - lots of options, screen, multi-target stream, mobile network bonding, etc., and you don't need you computer at hand. The advantage of ATEM lies especially in ISO version, if you need to re-edit the stream for later publishing.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag 2 місяці тому

      It's certainly arguable but the Yolo boxes have drawbacks: they are very expensive, have fewer inputs, don't have the tactility of physical buttons which a lot of folk, including me, prefer, and I have seen several user reports of glitches and bugs. Great in principle though.

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag 2 місяці тому

      A single mic is not stereo. In fact even both mics together won't really give you stereo but "dual mono" ie two mono channels, one of which is recorded as the Left track in a stereo file and the other recorded as Right but in reality that's dual mono. Each mic is mono.

  • @countkostaki
    @countkostaki 2 місяці тому

    Thank you for your extremely indepth review. I really am not very technically minded whatsoever, and perhaps you could help - but I bought this set of microphones about two months ago and whenever I have tried to film a clip with a high speed piece of machinery (for example a food mixer or a sewing machine) whirring in the background it starts off sounding normally and then it ends up sounding like some sort of robotic sound and then fades right out, even without me speaking during the times the machines are operating. This is the same with the noise reduction switched on or off. Hollyland were not helpful at all - they said I should use a mobile phone for recording sound with the machine and use their microphone for recording voice (!!!!!). I heard you mention something about sound cards - do you think it could be something to do with what I'm plugging the receiver into....? It's being plugged into my laptop and I'm using a webcam to record the clips directly into the laptop (unfortunately the webcam doesn't have a facility to accept an external mic)

    • @TubeShooterMag
      @TubeShooterMag 2 місяці тому

      That's very peculiar. What software are you using to record on the computer? Is it one piece of software to record both the webcam video and the mic audio?

    • @countkostaki
      @countkostaki 2 місяці тому

      @@TubeShooterMag Yes both pieces are being recorded by Logitech. However I have since seen that the recording levels on the software were defaulted to maximum so I reduced this to minimum and I also turned down the mic to the minimum setting. That did make a difference - quite a big difference to the voice sounds and in my opinion it sounds much better (although still a bit “tinny”). I am yet to try it with a machine in the clip however I am hopeful it has fixed the problem somewhat. The tone in hood clip has a much more bassy pitch to it and that’s what I was looking for. Hollyland’s (rather unhelpful) suggestion was just to use the mic to record voice and to use the computer for the machinery….

    • @countkostaki
      @countkostaki 2 місяці тому

      @@TubeShooterMag Yes it's one piece of software (Logitech). However since I wrote that above I have played around with the settings and moved the mic volume to low and adjusted the mic slider setting on the software to low - it has made a huge difference to the tone of spoken voice so I am hopeful it makes a difference to the sound of the machinery. It does sound rather "tinny" though - it just needs a bit more of a bassy type pitch I feel. I guess I will need to keep trying. Or get a different laptop!

      On this switcher I think you'd need a converter with a Type C input and HDMI output which would then connect to one of the switcher's inputs.

    Audio clicks and SSD stability might be related to static electricity. We ran into problems with it at dayjob when we tested iPads and iPhones with USB hubs for livestreaming. There is no good ways to ground the system and changes in static electricity from handling causes weird glitches and dropouts to signals.
